ACTORS’ NO-BRAINER #1: LABEL YOURSELF
Every so often, I clean up my computer’s desk top (a job I hate almost as much as I hate filing – yech!). In the process of dragging “stuff” to the trash, I invariably come across several jpegs and pdfs/Word documents that have no identifying labels. Who is so foolish as to send me, an agent, attachments which, when separated from their emails, are impossible to identify (the jpegs) or must be opened in order to do so (resumes)?
The answer, of course, is…actors! Actors who are either too lazy or too ignorant to spend a few minutes labeling what they send with their submissions.
Think about it. You are a complete stranger hoping for representation, yet you fail to make it easy for the prospective agent (or manager, or casting director, etc.) to keep track of your attachments. The attachments that say almost everything about you!
So, today’s No-Brainer is: LABEL YOUR ATTACHMENTS WITH YOUR NAME CLEARLY SHOWING!
